After being carefully measured, the left shock tower is shown being
removed. A spot weld cutter was used to minimize damage to the inner
fender aprons. After cutting only 53 welds, and a few minutes with a sharp
chisel, in came right out.

The tower was welded on three sides of the
frame rail. These were also drilled out with a spot weld cutter. A couple
of welds attaching the lower part of both aprons were cut to allow for
movement. The shell was then pried out.

The mating surfaces were cleaned up with a
grinder and brushed to bare metal.

The frame rail was also ground clean and
brushed to prepare for the replacement tower.

It took some minor trimming and coaxing to
get the new part pivoted over the frame. Once it went, it popped right in
place. All of the bare metal was sprayed with welder's primer prior to
assembly.
