Finishing Touches

For a little insurance I fabricated a reinforcement plate for the upper control arm mounting.  This ties the inner shell to the outer frame rail and extends up behind the arm.  The heavy gauge plate should substantially increase the torsional stiffness of this assembly.
The lower control arms were boxed to stiffen them also.
This was too much work just to replace a leaking O-ring.  The transmission got fresh bearings, springs, detents, and syncro rings.  Oh yea, and seals.
35 years of crud and paint were stripped off of the remaining sheetmetal, welds were cleaned up, and everything sanded for....
this...
and this.
Everything is coming together.

Damn that's pretty.

The engine, brackets, and small parts were cleaned and painted or replaced to finish the details.

After we get everything connected and fluids filled, the freshly assembled engine is ready to fire.  A new aluminum radiator will handle the cooling.
