Welcome to my virtual world on the Web
Let me introduce myself, my name is John Gould that's what my parents wanted me to be known as. Little did they know that my best friend would call me "Bubba" and that would stick with me and I would be better known as Bubba than John.
I'm the youngest of three children born to Ray John and Laura Catherine Gould. My sister Nancy was the first born, my brother Chris came just a few days short of a year later. I was not even thought of till a few years later and even then my mother was not thought to be able to get pregnant again.
Like most other younger siblings I wanted to do everything my older brother did. Playing sports, musical instruments anything he did I wanted to do.
It turned out to be the best thing to happen to me, It made me try harder and work hard at trying to be as good or better than my brother at stuff. My brother always set the bar high because he worked hard at things to.
We always seemed to be interested in music, my mother was a singer in Chicago before she married my dad. My dad was good at electronics and building things with his hands so we had a great sounding HiFi system that we could listen to music on.
My mother would sing with records and my brother was the one who discovered he had a singing voice handed down first. He sang in bands and solo up until his passing. He loved performing and making music.
I've had the good fortune of being able to make a living playing music at different times during my life. It afforded me the time and ability to help my parents in their later years with doctor visits and other matters. Also I got to see parts of the U.S. and other countries that I would not have seen otherwise.
Along with being a musician, I have worked as a product specialist for a couple of the leaders in musical instrument manufacturing.
I currently work in a local music store here in Houston called Great Southern Music. I teach guitar and help manage the store. I've known the owner of the store for about 30 years.
I still play out, I do solo performances, play steel at the Magnolia Opry and play in a group that does mainly parties.
I've always been interested in Midi, and computer technologies At one time I was thought of as one of the leaders in the uses of computers and musical interfacing.
