About
the Artist: Anne
Williams My
interest in art began long before I ever picked up a brush for the
first time in 2004. My husband, Lou,
and his mother were both accomplished oil painters. After my
husband's death, I found his paints. Being very new to the
area
and knowing only a few people, I decided to try painting as a deterrent
to grief and loneliness... and a well-developed case of cabin fever. I
grew up a Army brat and have seen many places, both in the US and
Europe that remain in my memory... and, as a novice photographer, have
committed many to my paintings.
To
anyone who ever thought of painting, DO IT! With an
experienced
and talented teacher, you will find an avenue of creativity that's
truly possible. And, late in life, what a marvelous and fantastic
journey this past five years have been! New Mexico never
fails to
enchant the senses and, particularly in the art world, it's a treasure
trove of inspirational themes and scenes. One of my favorite
art
forms is Impressionism as I like the dual aspects of both freedom and
discipline in the form.
My work has been
featured in several venues, the Lincoln County Fair, and many are in
private collections. I usually have two paintings going at
one
time as this helps me to step back from one while still being
productive on another.
