Briton Henry Connell, born January 24, 1921, Yaphank, New York, died August 18, 2004, Homestead, Florida.  He is the eldest son of Edward Harold Connell and Beatrice Priscilla Collyer Connell.  He has six brothers and sisters, Dorothy, Jean, Margaret, Edna, Edward Jr., and Thomas.  Brit attended school in Yaphank and Bellport before joining the United States Army and serving for more than six years on active duty.  He attained the rank of Staff Sergeant and served in the North Pacific Theater of Operations during World War II.  Shortly after the war he was discharged and returned to Yaphank.  He later met and married the former Genevieve Czaja of Southhampton, New York.  He retired from Local 138, International Union of Operating Engineers after many years working in the heavy construction industry.  Briton and his wife Genevieve are interned in the Fort Gibson National Cemetary, Fort Gibson, Oklahoma.  They are survived by their two children, Kathleen Anne Connell Hamilton, and Charles Briton ‘Corky’ Connell, four grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren.
