Welcome to Dry Creek Longhorns

Brad and Robin Hancock are glad you dropped by!  We are a cattle ranch located in the Hill Country Region of the great state of Texas.  We breed registered Texas Longhorn Cattle.  All of our breeding cattle are registered with either the International Texas Longhorn Association (ITLA) or the Texas Longhorn Breeders Association of America (TLBAA).  We usually have cattle available for private treaty sale, and we pride ourselves in being able to provide quality cattle at reasonable prices.

Do you want to own a piece of history? Nothing preserves the past like a pasture full of Texas Longhorns to add to your herd.  These hardy animals are capable of surviving extreme conditions such as the ongoing drought.  These cattle were created though natural selection to be hardy and survive just about any rough weather that nature can throw their way.  Even if you are a strictly commercial breeder, a Texas Longhorn bull is just what you need to settle your first time heifers.  Looking for roping cattle?  We sell those too!

We strive to maintain color, conformation and disposition throughout our herd, and our good momma's are the basis for these traits.

The newest addition to our herd, C9 Tomahawk Star  fits right in with our breeding program.  She has some impressive names in her pedigree, including Starlight.  She is young and her horns are still growing at an impressive rate.  The asking price for this fine young cow is $1,000

Say hello to DC April Spots.  This is one of the best replacement heifers we have kept yet, and she certainly made an impression in the show circuit like her dam CPA Miss Texas Spots did.  She is exhibiting both body and horn, traits not only passed on from her mother, but also a trademark of her sire, Prarie Big Horn, our previous herd sire.  Our asking price for this quality young cow is $1200.

DC Creme Brulee'  is another solid colored cow (dark tan) from JMJ Anastasia, who is nearly solid white.  Her sire is  Prarie Big Horn, our previous herd sire.  This young cow has given us some impressive calves and currently has a heifer at side. For more information, current pictures or a copy of her pedigree please e-mail us or give us a call.  Our asking price is $1,250.

DC French Vanilla  This cow is a solid color (dark tan) very unlike her dam JMJ Anastasia, who is nearly solid white.  Her sire is  Dalgoods High Caliber, the herd sire of the S Lazy R Ranch.  French Vanilla is very correct and exhibits the excellent conformation and disposition that we look for in our breeding program.  At her first show (the WTLA early fall show in Post) she took first place in her class and was also selected as the reserve champion junior heifer.  This cow has met our high expectations and has presented us with several fine calves. This cow is ITLA registered and OCV'd For more information, current pictures or a copy of her pedigree please e-mail us or give us a call.  The asking price for French Vanilla is $1,250.

SLR Yellow Rose of Texas Looking for something different, we purchased her from the S Lazy R Ranch to add some new and unusual color to our herd.  She has the same dun coloration of her dam, LY Kassie and should have the conformation of her sire, Dalgoods High Caliber.  Yellow Rose took first place in class 2, junior heifers (haltered) at the 2005 ITLA Championship Show.  With her new heifer calf at side she amazed us by winning Grand Champion All-Age Female at the 2007 CTTLA Cross Plains Shootout ranch show.  This young cow has been an important part of our breeding program for many years to come, and we're sure that she can be an asset to your herd too.  Yellow Rose is ITLA registered and OCV'd For more information, current pictures, or a copy of her pedigree please e-mail us or give us a call.  We are asking $1,000 for her.

CPA Texas Spots   has already proven herself in the show arena after taking Grand Champion All-Age Female in the open-haltered division of the MTLA 2004 Summer Fun Show at Tarleton State University.  She has now amassed enough points that she was presented the ITLA Silver Merit of Honor award at the 2004 ITLA Championship Show and Convention, where she was also recognized as the ITLA Region 11 Champion High Point Junior Cow (haltered).  Her pedigree includes a varied group of popular breeding programs.  With those enormous horns and long, deep body, we are sure to have show quality calves available for sale that will dominate the show arena for many years!  Spots earned her ITLA Gold Merit of Honor award in 2005, and also tied as Region 11 Champion High Point Junior Cow (haltered). CPA Texas Spots is ITLA registered and OCV'd For more information, current pictures or a copy of her pedigree please e-mail us or give us a call.  Spots is offered at $5,000

CPA Moonbeam This very correct cow has been credited with giving us some very nice calves.  She passes on her lateral horn and impressive height to her offspring.  We are waiting for a heifer calf out of her to see if she passes on her feminine head and neck traits too. CPA Moonbeam is ITLA registered and OCV'd For more information, pictures or a copy of her pedigree please e-mail us or give us a call.  Our asking price is a very reasonable $750.

CPA Miss T-Bone has been a very solid addition to our herd.  Although more petite than some of our other show cattle, her horn growth and conformation has proven itself in the show arena.  She was selected as the Grand Champion All-Age Female in the open-haltered division of the MTLA 2004 Early Spring Show in Cleburne Texas.  At the 2004 ITLA Championship Show and Convention Miss T-Bone was presented with the ITLA Silver Merit of Honor award and also selected as the ITLA Region 11 Reserve Champion High Point Junior Cow (haltered).  T-Bones pedigree has Watson influence on her sire's side, and her dam reflects Husker and Classic lines.  Miss T-Bone tied as Region 11 Champion High Point Junior Cow (haltered)  for 2005.  At the summer 2007 CTTLA show she was selected as the Reserve Champion Senior Cow.  The brindle bull calf now at side will probably also end up in our show string as a steer next year. CPA Miss T-Bone is ITLA registered and OCV'd. For more information, current pictures or a copy of her pedigree please e-mail us or give us a call.  Our asking price is $2,500.
