Nov. 30th ... 1998 Holiday Teddy is the new December Ty InfoBeanie!

... Another Ty-rrific Store (the second of it's kind in the World) is opening up at the Pittsburgh International Airport. WOW!! A reader sent in the following message to The Toybox:

The second Ty-rrific Store opening in Pittsburgh International Airport is now looking for employees. On my flight home, I had a layover in Pittsburgh International Airport. Walking around, I noticed a sign in one of the WHSmith stores. I took some notes on the sign...

"In Mid-December a new store will be opening in PIA...this remarkable store will be the second of its kind in the world..." They are looking for people with a "background in toy collectibles or craft retailing" or if "you have no experience, but enjoy working in a fast-paced environment anyway, we would like to hear from you...."

Nov 24th The Toybox received the following web-letter from Ty today:
"November 24, 1998

Dear Internet Friends,

It's getting close to "that time" again and we're sure that there will be many rumors of new Beanies afloat. As we have in the past, we are asking your cooperation in keeping these rumors under control. Your assistance in rumor control is a vital part of the "surprise" element involving Beanie Baby introductions. We appreciate your cooperation greatly. Many of you have wondered why we at Ty don't want rumored pictures of our new introductions on the Internet until we officially introduce them on our own website. We'd like to explain.

As you know, Ty never ships product before it is announced on our official website. Obviously we must have all of the new Beanie Babies in stock quite some time before the announcement is made so that we can immediately ship them to our stores. We want you, the consumer, to be able to purchase them as soon as possible. To do this, we must make a great number well in advance of the announcement. Therefore, if any Beanies appear on the Internet before our official website announcement, they are either stolen or counterfeit....

No reputable store or website should want to deal in stolen or counterfeit merchandise... But what's even more important to us at Ty. . . the fun is taken out of the announcement when pictures and poems and tags are shown before they become official. It's exciting for everyone to learn of the new Beanies, visit their favorite authorized Ty retailer, and then begin the hunt! If everyone knows beforehand, then a stolen or fake Beanie has spoiled the anticipation. And isn't the anticipation and the "thrill of the find" what it's all about? We think so. ....

We like to thank each and every one of you for the support you've shown us this past year. You do a remarkable job keeping the public well informed. We greatly appreciate it! We wish you the happiest of holidays and Beanie filled New Year!

P.S. there is a article and a fabulous photograph (taken by famed photographer Annie Leibovitz) of the elusive Ty Warner himself in the December issue of Vanity Fair Magazine (page 250)!"

Nov 18th ... BeanieHeaven reports - "I was out shopping the other week and ran across a Mystic with dark brown stitching going around his irredesent horn instead of the usual pink stitching. I contacted Sara Nelson (BeanieMom) and she said that "Canadian Mystics made in Indonesia had the brown stitching instead of the pink".

Oct 27th ... You can now view Ty's Privacy Policy, Pricing Philosophy & New Shipping Policy on their website.

Oct 8th The Billionaire Bear, brown with a green $ sign on his chest, is personally signed by Ty .... His employee gift for $1 Billion in sales since 1/1/98 ! He is definitely a very limited edition Beanie and would be a nice addition to anyone's collection (although he will never be in mine!). His value is estimated to be around $5,000.

Oct 5th ... New Employee Beanie Babie - The InfoBeanie, Chocolate, mentions a new Beanie Babie for Ty employees only, with the hang tag signed by Ty Warner! Too Cool~~ We DO know it is a Bear! Check the Rumors and Archived News page for further info.

Oct 2nd The type of material used on the Beanie Buddies is called Tylon and was made exclusively for Ty, discovered by Ty Warner. The material allows for brighter colors and softness of the fabric, and is only to be found on Beanie Buddies!

Sept 28th Stinky was No. 13 to retire today. Ty says "That's all folks, we think?" What do YOU think???

Sept 26th No new Beanies retired today at Ty! But the following Pillow Pals retired: Moo, Oink, Red, Tubby, Clover, and Ribbit.

Sept 24th Another retired Beanie today: Crunch.

Sept 22nd Three More Beanies Retire: Bernie, Sly, and Wrinkles!!!

Sept 20th Attic Treasures Retirees were announced by Ty: Grace, Montgomery, Chelsea, Bearington, Precious, Prince, Squeaky and Sire!

Sept 19th Retirement Home additions today at Ty: Spinner and Seaweed.

Sept 18th Bruno and Puffer joined the other retirees early this morning !

Sept 16th TY ANNOUNCES RETIRED BEANIE #4: Ringo. From what I have seen and heard, much more to follow. Check back soon !!!!

Sept 15th TY ANNOUNCES 3 BEANIE BABIE RETIREMENTS - Snort, Blackie, and Daisy.

Sept 1st This just appeared today on the BBOC page on Ty's site.....

"Newsflash - Clubby Has Arrived - September 1, 1998 - As previously reported, Clubby was born in July! Clubby has now arrived and we are beginning to fulfill orders. Please be patient, as it will take us approximately 6 weeks to process the orders. Do not be concerned, every club member who has ordered Clubby will receive Clubby!"
