... Info Beanie Update
The Info Beanie Poll is now closed for voting. Looks
like The Beginning Bear won by a narrow margin - final results:
The Beginning - 31.0% and Springy - 28.9%. (We should be able to

... "Expect the
Unexpected"
Just a couple of reminders ... tomorrow is April Fool's
Day ... be alert for any "tricks" someone may play on
you! :)
... Also, can we expect an announcement from Ty soon? April 1st has proven in the past to be a good time for introductions and/or retirements! At least we should expect the announcement soon of the April Info Beanie! (The polls should close soon; The Beginning is currently in the lead with 31.3% followed closely by Springy with 28.4%.)
... More new Beanies Arriving
The new Beanies are slowly making their way to

Becky Phillips' Professional Bean Bag

expertise necessary to set the standards in as yet uncharted
territory to beanbag collectors
authentication and
grading. They will also maintain a "population report"

So, what are the new TBB's to be released in the
McDonalds promo this year? And exactly when does it start? There
has been no "official" announcement yet, but a reader

her the following list, with a start date of June 16th: Amber,
Goochy, Hissy, Lips, Mystic, Nibbles (Nibbler or Nibbly?), Pecan,
Rover, Scaly, Schweety (Schweetheart?), Silver, and TipToe.

Most collectors have probably had doubts at one time or

coming! Looks like the
new Beanies 2000 are starting to slowly creep into the stores in
the US now! A reader has reported to BeanieMom (with photos
supplied) that new Beanies were found at a Hallmark. It was noted
that the star on the swing tag is silver glitter, not blue; and
they have a looped tush tag with hologram and a serial number on
the inside. You can view a picture of four of the new Beanies

... New Buddies in Canada
I mentioned about a week ago that a friend of mine in
Ontario had found some of the new Buddies in Canada (with the
extra tush tag) in a secondary store. It now appears that they
are showing up in retail stores as well (at least in Ontario). A
reader writes:
"I just wanted to tell you that I found a few of the new buddies that are starting to look like shelf-sitters already. For example, I got to the store one week after they came in and they still had shelves full of Rainbow, Flippity, Dotty, Congo, Eucalyptus, Digger, Chocolate and a lot more. I picked up Weenie, Lips and Digger. We waited to long and now it's too late. Also, I saw Maple buddy, unfortunately it was $200! Even the Jumbo Peace buddy they had wasn't even that much! They had all the baby ty's and the over sized buddies. None of them sold. Looks like they aren't a big hit here."
... Thanks for the info, Kim! Glad you finally got a LB Peanut, too :) Congratulations! ... And also thanks to Rosy for keeping us informed on the latest Canadian news as well :)

... Beanie Kid Hang Tag Protector
Advice
If you have been one of the lucky collectors to obtain a
Beanie Kid, you may be interested, of course, in protecting the
hang tag. The plastic attachment has been noted to be so short
that using a regular "swing open" tag protector is not
advised. It has been noted that using a tag protector that you
can "slip on" would be more advisable. And even then,
you may need to modify it (clipping off the corner of the tag
protector closest to the ear .. of course, before putting it on
the tag!) :)

And then...
Early yesterday morning, my server shut down for
updating and repairs. Fortunately, the site was still available
for viewing and for entering the contests, but I had no access to
the internet or to my mail server. All the entries submitted WERE
received ... I will acknowledge all of them today! Thank you for
your patience ... mine was running a little low by midnight last
night. (But perhaps a way to capture some much needed rest! :)
The news will be updated throughout the day ... so keep watching ... and REMEMBER ...
ALL ENTRIES INTO BOTH CONTESTS MUST BE SUBMITTED BY 12:00 MIDNIGHT TOMORROW NIGHT. THE CONTEST OFFICIALLY ENDS AT 12:01 MARCH 6TH!!! ... (I'm getting really excited!!!!)

... Beanie Buddy Update
In case you are up to some informative reading, the
Beanie Buddy page on this site gives the history of Buddies, from
their first introduction by Ty. It is interesting to note that
the "original 9" Buddies have all retired now, since
the retirement of Peanut. The second release of Buddies, in
January of 1999, have now all retired as well. The third
"release", in April of last year, consisted of 5
Buddies ... Fuzz, Hope, Millennium, Jabber, and Princess. Only
Fuzz, Hope, and Princess are still current. Are they next to
retire??? "Tyme will tell"!
It's also quite interesting that Clubby I and II Buddies are still listed as current on Ty's website. With the exclusion of these, and the three Buddies listed above, all Buddies have retired up until the August '99 releases!

Beanie Poems and Birthdays
As you are aware from earlier news, Ty has removed the
poems and birthdays from the site. Smart Collecting reports that the poem that was
posted for Wiggly the Octopus referred to him being a
squid! Looks like Ty pulled the poems and birthdays to
perhaps make some changes!
Note: The birthdays that were listed are noted below, and the new Beanies have been updated on my Current Beanie List

individual pics of the new Beanies on the Ty site now .... just click on the

Note: The birthdays for each Beanie are listed below, under March 1st news.. We knew they would all be January and February dates; 2000 Signature Bear has no poem or date of birth listed!

Hangtag Spelling Error on Pastel Peace Buddy
Beaniemom has a scan of the Pastel Peace
Buddy hangtag with a spelling error. The tag reads:
"Peace
the BEANIE BABY was the first Beanie Bady with
an embroidered emblem. This ty-dye technique on a soft toy is the
first in the World!"
Note: It seems a lot of the tags on the newest Buddies have more errors than usual. So far, there are nameless hangtags for Dotty, Scorch, and Congo. And ... yesterday when I stopped by a local retail store, I spotted a Kicks Buddy (with a backwards leg!) .... I purchased a 'normal' one instead; was just elated to find a new Buddy at all. They are NOT easy to find in my area!)

Ty Classic Order Limitations
It was originally posted on the Ty Retailer's site that retailers

(Treasured Pals!)
I just have to share this with you ... I have received a copy of a catalog of newly introduced 'ornaments' in the UK. They are called Treasured Pals and come in the form of Ornaments, Key rings and Money boxes.
Each Treasured Pal is made of resin and is approximately 2 inches in height. They are boxed, come with a heart neck tied tag, with their own birthday. Each one is limited to around 5,000 worldwide.
They are very detailed and well made. (I have the "chicken"; she is too cute!!!) View the catalog pages below:
