MISCELLANEOUS

A manual, not electric, "appliance" to make pizzelles, an Italian favorite, including Cantalupo nel Sannio. Cantalupesi call the pizzelles Congelate. Several recipes are on the recipe page.
The pizzelle iron above was nade by Ferdinando Barbieri celebrating the marriage of his daughter Carminia to Alfonso Crivellone in 1922. The date 1922 is engraved one side and an Eagle on the other.
Many of these irons were hand made in Cantalupo, with different designs. Please send a photo of your pizzelle iron.
Another manual device... Molise pasta machine, lay the flat dough over the wires, a rolling pin does the rest. The wires create nice even pasta.
Badges from Chicago

The Cantalupesi Society in Chicago used one badge with two sides. One side, with an American flag / Italian flag and the image of s. Anna, for festivals, etc. The other side was used at funerals. The were done in beautiful silk - the red one has deteriorated. They are rare items now in custody of Ron Crivellone in Chicago, son of Romolo.
