MORGAN COUNTY FAIR 2008
JUNIOR HORSE SHOW
Showtime: Friday, October 3rd, 6:30 PM
Gates Open: Friday, October 3rd, 3:30-5:30 PM
General Rules and Information
Entries will be open to all youth ages 18 and under in Morgan County and any other surrounding counties. Any exhibitor who has graduated from High School is ineligible.
Entries will be $10 per horse/exhibitor team.
Exhibitors must provide a copy of the Current Coggins test for the horse to be shown.
Registration may be made on-line or at the show and is not necessary for competition.
Entry forms may be downloaded and filled out prior to the show or obtained at the show.
In Classes 3-9 (Halter), the exhibitor must be the owner or lessee of the horse to be shown or an immediate family member of the owner. In Classes 1-2 (Showmanship), the exhibitor does not need to own the horse to be shown.
In classes in which only one exhibitor makes entries, 2nd place premium will be paid.
Horses do not need to be registered to be eligible for prizes.
All horses must be on the fairgrounds by 5:30 PM on Friday, October 3rd.
All horses must remain in place until the conclusion of the show. Premiums will be paid at the conclusion of the show.
Exhibitors are limited to no more than 2 entries in one class.
All horses will be shown by halter and lead rope.
No stallions will be shown.
Exhibitors will be held responsible for the cleanliness of their area of use including any area around their horse trailer.
The management reserves the right to reject any entry offered by an exhibitor.
The management reserves the right to cancel any or all classes on account of circumstances beyond our control.
The fair reserves the right to make changes if necessary.
All complaints will be considered by the management, and their decision will be final.
The show management reserves the right to amend or add to these rules, as they, in their judgment, may deem advisable.
SHOW ORDER:
Class 1: Showmanship (exhibitors must be 12 years of age or younger)
Class 2: Showmanship (exhibitors must be 13 years of age or older)
All showmanship classes will be judged on the exhibitors ability to lead the horse through a simple pattern on foot, the control of the exhibition, and the cleanliness, fitness, and professionalism of both horse and exhibitor.
Class 3: Weanling Filly (born 2008)
Class 4: Weanling Colt (born 2008)
Class 5: Yearling Filly (born 2007)
Class 6: Yearling Colt (born 2007)
Class 7: 2 Year Old Mares and Older (born 2006 or earlier)
Class 8: 2 Year Old Geldings and Older (born 2006 or earlier)
Class 9: Pony
Class 10: Champion Mares (top two from each class)
Class 11: Champion Geldings (top two from each class)
Class 12: Overall Best of Show (top two from classes 10 and 11)
All halter classes will be judged on the conformation of the horse to be presented.
AWARDS FOR CLASSES:
Classes 1-9:
Each placing 1st-6th will receive a ribbon and the following premium:
First $35.00 Fourth .. $20.00
Second . $30.00 Fifth .. $15.00
Third . $25.00 Sixth . $10.00
Each placing 7th-10th will receive a ribbon.
Classes 10-11:
Grand Champion Mares and Geldings .. Rosette and $50 each
Reserve Grand Champion Mares and Geldings .. Rosette
Class 12:
Overall Best of Show .Banner and $100
