Banners are both spiritual and educational tools.  Like bulletin boards they teach. They review. They announce.  They remind.  They show.  They lift up.  They have evolved from the icons of the past. In worship they enhance the season of the year or the scripture of the day.  They speak to people though the symbols of the service. or the story of the day.

The long banner with the word “God” at the top stands for the way God works
in the 5 days of the VBS lesson.  For instance, in the story of Noah, God reveals,
forgives, provides, decides, and creates. These are the lessons for each day of
Vacation Bible School.  This banner was used in the teaching of the lessons for the week.

Remember the Seasons helps youth learn the seasons of the church year.
When the season appears in the calendar a student puts the proper square in place.

i.e. Advent, Christmas, Epiphany, Lent, Easter and Pentecost.
The people in the lower portion of the banner stand for the ‘Ordinary’ days,
the days from Pentecost until the beginning of the church year again,  Advent.
