TRAINING OPPORTUNITIES SCHEDULE

Ed Livesay and Associates is scheduled to provide or otherwise be involved in the following reconstruction training courses in and around North Carolina.

While these courses tend to be predominantly made up of law enforcement personnel, they are open to the general public as well and have included insurance, law firm and other civilian investigators or potential investigators. The courses are designed for those without engineering and math backgrounds although such training would certainly be beneficial. Please don't hesitate to converse with the listed contact personnel for each course for further information. You may also email Ed Livesay. We look forward to meeting and working with you!

ON-LINE offering of all three courses is in development at Randolph Community College. This new format is not to be confused with the old fashioned, "correspondence courses" that lacked academic credibility! This new technology is being employed by most accredited Universities and provides considerably more convenience and less expense. Regardless of your physical location within the State (and beyond), you can take advantage of our courses at any Internet-enabled computer monitor, at any time of day and the courses do include actual real-time interfacing with the instructor! The Basic Technical Accident Investigation course may be available by the spring of 2004.

TECHNICAL ACCIDENT RECONSTRUCTION: May 10-21st, 2003 at Randolph County Community College (Archdale or Asheboro campus). The third of our trio of Reconstruction Courses. This course brings the skills and knowledge from the Basic and Advanced courses together in developing the ability to forensically reconstruct collision events, from beginning to end. Topics will include momentum, crush, collision photography and photogrammetry, night-time conspicuity concerns and measurement and a host of cutting edge technologies. The Basic and Advanced (or equivalent) courses are pre-requisite. Contact Mr. Don Clark at (336) 633-4165 for further details.

BASIC TECHNICAL ACCIDENT INVESTIGATION: April 19-23rd, 2004 at Wilson Technical Community College (Coastal Plains Law Enforcement Academy, Wilson, NC). The first of three courses leading to reconstruction certification. This course delves into the basic skills of a technical scene investigator including the creation of scale diagrams and other evidence collection methods. It also provides the basics of speed estimates as a function of skid, critical speed (yawing), and airborne events. The course is mandated for career advancement (promotion) in the Wilson and several other community police agencies.
