Complications After My Wife's Emergency Appendectomy

(a Haiku/Senryu Sequence)

appendectomy --
her Buddha belly
smiles with a tin grin

*

staples, not stitches?
easier to take out
the doctor explains

*

while her belly grins,
the marmot three floors below
digs holes

*

groggy from the Percs --
birds chortle and titter,
re-assemble sky

*

doctor's appointment --
her incision lips
tight too

*

morphine in the ass --
so she can sleep through her pain
and hear the birds

*

in Morphia now --
the cat below her bedroom
walks an angled plank

*

more surgery?
delphinium blossoms bob
under the bees' weight
