If you become LOST or HURT

·      Don’t Panic – Someone will come looking for you

·      Try to find a place to make yourself more visible, near a road or open field

·      Hang bright ribbons (from survival kit) close by to be more visible

·      Also put visible markings in dirt area (arrows pointing to your location)

·      Stay in one location, moving around only adds to the area to be searched

·      Work to build yourself a shelter to get out of the elements,

·       Put large garbage bag to use, this also keeps your mind busy

·      Build a Fire for warmth and also to keep you company

If You know a Person is Lost?

· Don’t  panic, call 911 for help immediately, the longer the time lapse the larger the search area,

the more difficult to coordinate the search and the more search personnel will be needed

· Please do not try to search for a missing person, this only adds additional Scent and

Tracks to the search area which takes additional time for the Trained search personnel

             to clear these false clues.

· Don’t be afraid to ask for help, searching for lost people is what we do, if the

Individual is located before we get there, that is Great, we don’t mind the call!

Getting lost yourself or losing someone is nothing to be ashamed of, it can happen

                     To anyone!

· Make yourself available for questions, answer the 911 dispatchers questions and

Once the search team gets on scene they will have more questions to narrow the

                     Search area down.
