Title:"Died on the Veranda. Sudden Death of Mrs. Sarah Freehafer While Seated in an Easy Chair"

While seated in a rocker on the veranda in front of her home at 321 pine, Mrs. Sarah Freehafer, widow of Michael Freehafer, expired suddenly about 9 o'clock Tuesday evening. Some time ago she contracted a severe attack of grip and about three months ago this developed into heart failure. She was well as usual on Tuesday evening and was chatting with her relatives, when she suddenly signed and fell back in the chair. Dr. Jennings, who happened to be in the neighborhood ministering to another patient was called, but when he arrived e pronounced life extinct. Several members of the family were present.

Mrs. Freehafer's age was 77 years and 6 months. She was born and reared at Orwigsburg, but resided in Reading for the past 24 years. Her husband preceded her in death 8 years. Deceased was a member of St. Peter's M.E. church and was well known in the congregation. There survive the following children: Mrs. M.A. Zimmerman, Reading; Mrs. William Mattern, Allentown; Mrs. C.S. Phillips, Shenandoah; Contractor Daniel Freehafer, Reading, and Edward Freehafer, proprietor of the Deysher furniture store; Mrs. Emma Boyer, Mrs. J.H. Taylor and Richard E. Freehafer, all of Reading. She leaves a brother Thomas Geiger, Phila., and these sisters: Mrs. Jacob Fryer, Phila.; Mrs. Porter Case, Chicago; Mrs. William Fryer, Milton; Mrs. Henry Shultz, Mrs. William Snell and Mrs. Mary Walker all of Reading.

The funeral of Mrs. Sarah Freehafer, widow of Michael Freehafer, took place form her residence, 321 Pine at 10 a.m. and was largely attended. The remains were attired in a black dress and reposed in a black cloth-covered casket with heavy silver trimmings and plate bearing the deceased's name and age. Services were conducted at the house by Rev. B. T. Callen. The bearers were Washington Root, Reuben Rishill, Lewis Crater and George Ganger. The tribute included a cluster of 77 carnations and maiden hair fern were tied with a satin ribbon, from the grandchildren; bouquets of natural flowers from Mr. And Mrs. William Mattern, Richard Freehafer, Daniel Freehafer, Mr. And Mrs. Edward Freehafer and Mrs. Reuben Risheill and daughter. Interment in Charles Evans cemetery. The out-of-town friends included: Mrs. and Mrs. William Mattern and sons Fred and Harry, of Lebanon; Thomas Gier and wife, and Edward Aschenbach, Phil.; Mrs. William Sheridan, Hamburg; Mrs. Daniel Sheridan, Mrs. John Harner and Mrs. William Dibert, Schuylkill Haven. Funeral director, E.S. Miller.

Freehafer - In this city, on the 26th inst. Sarah Freehafer, aged 77 years.

The relatives and friends of the family are respectfully invited to attend her funeral on Saturday at 10 a.m. from her late residence No. 821 Pine St. Services at the home. Interment at Charles Evans Cemetery.
