our first 2 Highland ladies, In short order, Medb joined the small group. Two days after getting

Most recently, we decided to change out our herd sire, Thunder. Highlands have been a great learning experience for the whole family. The Hezik family
started off with a couple of holstein steers purchased from a neighbor.
We had to do something with the 10 acres of grass we now owned, so why not grow beef?

to our first calf, Seodag. A bit of a surprise,
didn't think she was supposed to be due
for a couple more months.
We added a young herd sire from the same fold that
we got the first
ladies from. Poor Thunder, he didn't get much respect at first, being only 7 months old at the time!
Lastly, we picked up Brigid and Nepthys from the same place as Medb.
Morag came along 7 months after we bought her dam, Ginger.
Since then, all additions have been from the efforts of Thunder and his
harem of ladies.
We have kept a few of his girls, so thought it would be good to bring in a new guy.
So, Darmond was brought in from out in Virginia, for an unrelated blood line herd sire.
We are looking forward to a new crop of calves out of Darmond in the not too distant future.
Thank you for stopping by!
