Back to School Info

Welcome to Waldo Community School and 4th Grade!

Below you will find information to make the beginning of the school year run much smoother. If you have any questions please

    email me powelldm@gm.sbac.edu

·      Meet the teacher day is Friday, August 21st from 12:00 – 2:00pm. I look forward to meeting you!

·      There is a new dress code in effect. It is really not much different than previous years BUT it will be enforced. When shopping for school clothes please keep this in mind. Click here to view the county dress code for elementary schools.

·      This year 4th and 5th graders will be discouraged from bringing backpacks to school. There is just not enough room in our small classrooms for them. Instead we would prefer that students have a zip around Trapper Keeper type of notebook. For those of you that have difficulty finding one, we will have a few available at school.

·      For Mrs. Powell’s class: If students bring backpacks, they will need to unload everything they will need for the day in the morning and then hang the backpack on one of the hooks in the hall outside of our room. Students will NOT be allowed to go into their backpacks again until the end of the school day. Lunch boxes can be kept under their desk.

·      Students will have an agenda again this year. Students are expected to copy homework and class work assignments into the agenda. Agendas should be checked and signed by a parent/guardian every night. Agendas will also be used as a communication tool between teacher and parent.

·      This year 4th and 5th graders will also have a “Boomerang” folder that will go home each day. There are four pockets in this folder: Homework, Things to stay at home (graded work, informational notes), For Parents (notes from teacher, Friday reports, permission slips, report cards/interim reports, etc.), For Teacher (notes from parents, signed Friday reports, report cards & permission slips, etc.).
