We had 10mb of server disk space that our ADSL provider gives you for a simple personal website, so we thought we'd put it to use. It doesn't have PHP or MySQL support, so it's a simple HTML and CSS design, an implementation of our Orange Candy design currently featured on our test server, only with a green color scheme.

I've converted most of the content from the old design and we plan to add more content along the way. We bought a house in Stromsburg, Nebraska a couple of years ago, and are now beginning to work on both the house and the landscaping. We thought we'd use this space as a sort of update place for any progress we make. We've begun working on our garden, dog kennel and fence projects and I'll be adding pictures as these projects begin taking shape.

The house was built in 1904, is small and in need of quite alot of work. We don't mind. It sits on a very large double lot, so we've got plenty of room for our garden and landscaping plans. We've paid the house off already, so we're hopeful that we can afford to keep the projects moving along, albeit in stages spread over the next few years.

Dog Kennel Under Construction

We've begun building a much needed dog kennel off the back of the house. It will be covered and have a doggy door going into the house so the dogs can freely go in and out as they please. The floor of the kennel will have dig-proof wire mesh down, then several inches of woodchips. It is sixteen feet long, ten feet wide, and six feet high. The design will blend in with the perimeter fence for the upper yard/lot that we hope to get started on this summer.

Sadie, our English Mastiff with Lucky, our Catahoula Leopard Dog puppy...

Our newest rescued dog, Lucky, is a Catahoula Leopard Dog puppy, pictured here with Sadie, our English Mastiff. At 6 months old and 51 lbs. he's quite the change from Sadie, at 9-1/2 years old and 206 lbs. in this picture, taken in late June of 2008. They have quickly become best buddies. The puppy torments Sadie, but she doesn't seem to mind and will play with him for hours. Lucky digs like a badger and climbs like a cat, so the kennel needs to be covered and have sturdy mesh in the bottom.

Raised Garden Bed

We got started on the garden plans, and built the first of the permanent raised beds. This one still needs to be capped off with a pressure treated 2x6 for sitting on the edge, but we went ahead and got it planted for this season. Beans and cucumbers are doing nicely in it.
