Yearly Stats

2007 was a year of rock bottom conditions. To bottom that out even further, CW activity on the bands was at a low ebb. I think folks thought conditions were even worse than they actually were. On many days propagation seemed fairly good, but almost nobody was on the air to take advantage. However on many days the reverse seemed true. There were a lot of stations on the air, but all very weak. Personally I never checked 17 through 10 meters as often as I should have. I probably missed some good openings on those bands as a result. I did not make a single QSO on 10 or 12 meters in 2007. The one band that stood out this year was 160M. Conditions there were just great as they usually are at the bottom of a sunspot cycle.

At the bottom of this page is a comparison of some of my statistics for 1995 through 2007.

The more years I add to this table, the more a graph of its values looks like the sunspot cycle, especially those items dealing with north polar path DX on the higher bands above 20 meters. Asian QSO's specifically, but to almost the same degree, European QSO's. However it also depends on the amount of on-air time I put in each year. Because of the various NAQCC on-air events, I have been a bit more active in 2005-2007. Even with the amount of activity not factored in though, the DX stats portray the cycle quite well.
