"Vanbeber's Court" could be taken in two different ways. George served as a county judge. Patti Herd Mayer says the family joked that, afterward, he never sat with his back to a door.

He had a motel which was named Vanbeber's Court .

At some time Mom ran the cafe kitchen, and the quality of the food was such that some people went out of their way to eat there. That's no surprise. I think any of the Lassiter children would go considerably out of their way for Mom's cooking. I particularly remember her jam cake, fruit cake, pecan pie, strawberry/rhubarb pie, blackberry pie, biscuits, cornbread, pinto beans, fried chicken, White Acre peas .......

I remember staying there on several occasions in the fifties and early sixties. There was no cafe then. The rooms were 'pine paneled'. Uncle John and Mom ran the place for several years during that time.

Uncle John said that, when describing the location of a certain house(?), George said that it was "over there fernint Idie's." He may have tended to replace the final "a" on some words with "ie", both when speaking and when writing. (Note the spelling " Marthie ". I assume that this was written by George.)
