Alaska Moose, 2006 010.jpg (64065 bytes)

Here is the result of my moose hunt.  He
was 64+".  The shot was offhand at 65 yds (he responded to a cow call)
so I didn't get to try for the 275 yd+ long shot even though two other
hunters did have to.  The rifle was a big hit with my guide, especially
after he picked it up and asked how much it weighed.  It was accurate
and rugged (I used it as a walking stick most of the time).  The only
negative was that it took four bullets to finally get the moose to stay
down, despite knocking him over with both shots one and two.  The
outfitter's comment was that those of us who use .300 WSM should leave
them in the lower 48, although he allowed that it would be a good sheep
gun!  Thanks again

Rifle built by Bettin Custom.

Customer built AR-15 with an ABS 1:9 twist barrel.

Hi Mike,

Thanks again for the superb barrel.

I can hardly wait until I can get out to the local gun club and be able to shoot to 300yds. I'm going to pick up some various weights of match ammo and see if I can find some of that Black Hills 50gr. varmint you mentioned.

I can't find the target I was telling you about....must have got misplaced in the shuffle back to the house. I did find two that were .178" and .173" c-c with two rounds in the 3 rd. target going .032" c-c.......too bad I pulled that shot high. ;-)

Thanks again and I'll be in touch,

Dudley
