| About Our Pastor | |||
|
Tim
VanLandingham has served Midway since June, 2006.
Brother Tim was born at Fort Benning,
Georgia and moved back to Cairo in 1971 upon his Dad’s retirement from
the
military. He
graduated from Cairo High
School in 1981 and during that senior year at CHS experienced a call
from God
to full-time Christian service. In
preparation for the task to which God called him, he began his studies
by
earning an Associate’s Degree in Education from Thomas College, then a
Bachelor
of Arts Degree in Biblical Studies from Mercer
University, Macon in 1984. During
those years, he preached wherever God
would use him, served on the Revival Team at the Baptist Student Union
of
Mercer, and also served two summers as a Summer Youth/Children’s Leader
in Columbia,
Alabama.
Brother Tim
earned a Master’s Degree in Biblical Studies in 1989 from the New
Orleans
Baptist Theological Seminary. While
living in New Orleans, he served the Valence Street Baptist Church in
the
uptown area as a youth/children’s leader and instrumentalist. It was during those years
that God clarified
His call on his life to understand that God was equipping him to serve
as a
Southern Baptist Pastor wherever God could use him.
God called
him to his first pastorate as a single pastor at the Southside Baptist
Church
in Norman Park, Georgia in August, 1989 where he served until October,
1999. There, he met
and married a wonderful
pastor’s daughter who has a passion for Christian education. Brenda also has a degree
from New Orleans,
and hers is in Christian education.
She
has served in numerous areas of Christian service on the local,
associational,
and state levels of work. She
also
taught kindergarten for eleven years. Since their marriage in
1991, God has used
both their individual and combined efforts to serve Him. For several years, Tim and
Brenda have served
the Colquitt and Valdosta Associations as Vacation Bible School
Directors. It is
their passion to reach people for Jesus
Christ and to equip the church family to Worship, Reach the Lost,
Disciple
every believer, Minister to the needs God reveals, and Fellowship in
the
Kingdom. Brother
Tim and Mrs. Brenda
also served the New Bethel Baptist Church of Valdosta, Georgia from
November of
1999 until moving back to Cairo in 2006.
During their years of service, he has served in
numerous capacities on
the associational level in areas such as Evangelism, Discipleship, and
Administration. We are happy to have Brother Tim and Mrs. Brenda serving alongside us. God is working in some mighty ways at Midway. Come and Join us! |
