Community Church Youth Center
London Community Church has begin a building fund for the Norman J.
Labhart, Jr. Youth Center. To date, we have raised over $64,000.00.
Every year, we work on several projects which raise monies for this fund
as well as receiving an offering on each 5th Sunday of the month. Our
next fundraiser will be a Fish Fry held at the New Kolb Aircraft
Homecoming held in London, Kentucky from September 19-21, 2008. You can keep updated by visiting our Weekly Bulletin.
Care Packages Sent
To Local Soldiers in Iraq
Several soldiers with local ties have
an extra special surprises each month. Our church ladies try to make a
theme each month that coordinates with that month's holiday. The
shipping costs are incurred from church funds and individual donations.
The contents are donated by church members. The soldiers are shipped
many essentials like mosquito wipes, toilet paper, shaving kits,
shampoo, hand sanitizer, disposable cameras, phone cards, nuts, chips,
candy, homemade goodies and many other creative items.

It is a very uplifting giving
program for both the soldiers and our volunteers, exclaimed volunteer
Dana Labhart. Its important for soldiers to feel they are cared
about back home. It helps them do their job better.

Many packages have been sent to
deployed soldiers of relatives or friends of the church. It is part of a
monthly care package program coordinated by church member Donna LeVan.
Each month volunteers gather together to pack snack and personal care
boxes created from donations made by church members. Over 400 packages
have been sent to about 29 soldiers to date.

Its hard for soldiers to be away from their families especially
during holidays, so at Christmastime we made an extra effort to create a
package that would lift the morale of our loved ones, said
coordinator Donna LeVan. They included Christmas cards, gifts, snacks
and many wrapped goodies. When the Christmas care packages were ready to
send, volunteer Shirley Mathews said, I would just love to be a fly
on the wall when they receive these packages.
