I am using this pedigree chart to help explain the relationship of my Taylor and Cantrell lines. William Taylor's parents, John A. Taylor and Beady Emerline Cantrell were second cousins. (See my Kinship Chart to explain these relationships.) Benjamin Cantrell, Sr. and Charity Legat were great grandparents of both.
Talitha Cantrell was first married to Jesse W. Taylor, son of Henry H. Taylor, and had three children (Elias, Hannah, and Jesse) before his death in 1848 in the Mexican War. Talitha then had five more children, all named Taylor (Mary Frances, John A., Charles A., Benjamin F., and James L.), without ever remarrying as far as we know. She was still going by Taylor until the time of her death.
Therefore, we still have Taylor blood whether John A. Taylor's father was a Taylor or not. We pick it up from Beadie Emerline Cantrell Taylor, daughter of Mary Lucinda Taylor Cantrell who was a sister of Jesse W. Taylor, John A. Taylor's step-father.
This is pretty confusing. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me for further information.
