I graduated fifth in the 1992 class at Picayune Memorial High School in Picayune, Mississippi. While there I was active in the band, Mu Alpha Theta, National Honor Society, the science club, and the German club. I was STAR Student my senior year, having scored the highest amongst my classmates on the ACT (32).

I then received a bachelor of science degree in mathematics with a minor in computer science from Mississippi State University. I was very active in the band and various other musical ensembles during my time there. I was treasurer of the band for one year and president for another. I was also a charter member of the Epsilon Chapter of Kappa Kappa Psi National Band Fraternity and served as treasurer for one year. I was a member of Phi Kappa Phi and was voted into Who's Who Among American College Students.
