What I Do For a Living

I work as a software developer for the Baruch Institute at The University of South Carolina, where I build web database applications that aggregate and present weather data accumulated by buoys in the Atlantic Ocean and satellites.

Previously I worked with another software group at USC where I developed a system that allows researchers to submit grant proposals online, and all the signatories (chairs, deans, etc.) electronically approve everything from their desk or airport or wherever there is an internet connection. What previously took several days and much legwork is now done in minutes.

Before that, I developed a case management system for the South Carolina Commission for Prosecution Coordination. This sytem allows solicitors across the state to share criminal data in a real-time setting across a virtual private network on the internet.
