|
| If you are using any PPPoE dialup software such as Tango, Internet 300, WinPoet...etc disconnect it now. | |
|
Now you will need to setup your computer up with the following IP settings.
IP Address: 192.168.254.2 Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0 Gateway Address: 192.168.254.254 |
|
|
After you have entered your IP settings (and rebooted if you are on Windows 95/98/ME) bring up your web browser and go to http://192.168.254.254
This will bring the initial setup page for the router. You will be asked to give a password for Admin access, to keep things simple type in admin for the password and then type it in again in the confirmation box. Then hit okay or enter or save settings (Whatever is has for a confirm button) |
|
| Now you should be in the main interface screen, on the left click on Setup and then PPP. From here put in your userid and password. This will be the same userid and password that you used in your dialup software such as Tango, Internet 300, etc... Once you have put these in hit the Save settings button. | |
| Now on the left side click on WAN interface, then click on the Add New VC button. | |
| Make sure you have the correct VPI/VCI. Encapsulation should be set to LLC. Traffic Class should be set to Unspecified Bit Rate. Now click the Next button. | |
| Make sure you have this set to PPPoE then hit the Next button. | |
| Choose the Client Only option then hit Next | |
| Number of PPPoE Sessions should be kept at 1 then hit the Next button | |
| Put in your userid and password. This will be the same userid and password that you used in your dialup software such as Tango, Internet 300, etc... Then hit the Next button. | |
| Choose Auto-Connect on Disconnect will ensure that your router will re-connect back up should it become disconnected. Then hit the Next button. | |
| Leave the Static IP field empty even if you have a static IP block. Then hit the Next button. | |
| If you want you can select the Firewall, Intrusion Detection and Universal Plug and Play options but for now I would keep them unselected and make sure that only NAPT is selected. Then hit the Next button. | |
| Go ahead and name your connection. Then hit the Next button. | |
| Finally you will be able to hit the finish button. | |
| Put a check in the box and then click on the Reboot link. | |
| Now hit the reboot button. | |
| Now you will see a 45 second timer countdown. | |
| Next screen should appear pretty much like this, of course your public IP address will be listed where I have the xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx. | |
| Now you will want to setup the DHCP server on the router. Make sure you put your ISP's DNS server in the DNS server field then uncheck the Use WAN box, then hit the Save Settings button. This will once again prompt you to reboot the router, just hit the reboot button and when it comes back up you should be ready to go. | |
