Unknown to many people the Cisco 827 includes a clock. Setting this clock up is very easy and can be done with the following steps.
Log into your router. Get into enable mode. Type config t Once in here type in the following commands. clock timezone cst -6 clock summer-time cdt recurring The first line sets what timezone you are in. This example shows Central Standard Time, -6 hours offset. The second shows central daylight time and has this recurring. Now type in end and this will take you back to the enable prompt. Here we will set the time and date on the router. The commands are as follows. clock set HH:MM:SS DD MMM YYYY copy run start So if you wanted to set the time for 10:30PM March 13th 2003 you would type in: clock set 22:30:00 13 MAR 2003 You must remember to use military time because you can't enter in AM or PM. Now to show your time you simply type in: show clock And the router will respond with something like: 22:30:12.503 cst Thu Mar 13 2003 Notice how after the seconds there are 3 more numbers? That's because this router is "accurate" up to thousandths of a second. This concludes the tutorial on setting the clock. |
