Ad-Aware Installation

If you change/remove/corrupt something up on your computer or router or equipment and someone has to fix it or replace it for you and charge you money/services/beer for fixing it then it's your responsibility not mine nor is it Alltel/Windstream's or your ISP's or anyone else's. I give you the information that I have learned/found/acquired. What you do with it is up to you. Do not email me with questions or complaints about why your router/computer/equipment/etc. doesn't work. I cannot guarantee that this config or these settings or information on this site will work for everyone. I can't test all solutions possible because I don't know them all and there are not enough hours in the day/week/month/year for me to test every combination possible. I have tested/used these configurations/software and they work for me. I am just letting my findings be open to help others in times of need at no cost. If you do not understand these instructions/configurations/software or are afraid that you will mess up the computer/router/equipment/software then you will want to contact a computer/network technician to help fix/configure/build what you need done.

Once you have downloaded Ad-Aware, locate the directory where you downloaded it to and double click on the Ad-Aware executable installation file. Now you should see Ad-Aware's installation start up.
Read the instructions then click on the Next button.
Here is the software license agreement, check the box for "I accept the license agreement" then click on the Next button
Now you will be prompted for where you want to install Ad-Aware, just leave the default directory and click on the Next button.
Now you will be prompted for who should be able to use the program, just leave it on "Anyone who uses this computer" and then click on the Next button.
You are now ready to install Ad-Aware, click on the Next button.
Ad-Aware will now begin installing. Don't hit the Cancel button
Once Ad-Aware is installed you will be asked what you want to do next. Make sure that the only thing checked is "Update definition file now" then click on the Next button.
Ad-Aware will now contact it's home server and download the updated definitions file. Just wait for it to complete and then it will automatically go to the next screen.
Once the updates are complete and the status page loads up, click on the Start button to start a system scan.

Make sure that "Perform smart system scan." is selected then click on the Next button.
Ad-Aware will begin scanning your system for nasty, under-handed spyware. At this point just sit back and watch the progress or get yourself a beverage. This may take awhile.
Once Ad-Aware finds all the nasty spyware that it can on your computer you will be presented with it's findings. At this point go ahead and click on the Next button.
Here you will be given a detailed list of all items that Ad-Aware found.
Simply scroll through the list and check all that you would like removed and then click on the Next button.
Ad-Aware will now prompt you if you are sure you want to remove the selected items. Just click on the OK button.
Once Ad-Aware removes the offending items you can now close out of it by clicking on the X in the upper right hand corner.
