Setup Email in Thunderbird

I cannot guarantee that this config or these settings or information on this site will work for everyone. I can't test all solutions possible because I don't know them all and there are not enough hours in the day/week/month/year for me to test every combination possible. I have tested/used these configurations/software and they work for me. I am just letting my findings be open to help others in times of need at no cost. If you do not understand these instructions/configurations/software or are afraid that you will mess up the computer/router/equipment/software then you will want to contact a computer/network technician to help fix/configure/build what you need done.
Simple walkthru on setting up Mozilla's Thunderbird for use on windstream.
Launch Thunderbird.
Click on Tools then Account Settings
Now click on the Add Account button
Email Account should be selected then click on Next
Your Name should contain your First and Last name. Email address will be your full email address.
Make sure that POP is the selected mail server type and then input pop.windstream.net for the incoming mail server. Make sure there is a check in Use Global Inbox then click Next
Incoming username should already be setup. If using a former valornet account, put in the whole valornet email address. ex.. johnsmith@valornet.com then click on Next
Account name should already be filled in. This has no function other than identification of the account within Thunderbird
Last page shows all the information that was entered. Click Finish
Now we have to enter the outgoing server information. Click on Outgoing Server (SMTP) Then click on the ADD button
Enter smtp.windstream.net for the description and the Server Name fields. Put a check in the Username and Password box. Now put in your windstream account for the Username field. If you are using a former valor account then put in the whole email address... ex. johnsmith@valornet.com. Then click on the OK button.
Once complete click on the OK button at the bottom. You are now setup to use the Windstream mail server with Thunderbird.
