This website is a chronicle of Murray and Tom Lamb's 2004 Appalachian Trail adventure.
They will climb Mt. Katahdin in Maine on or near June 11 to begin the journey.

Murray is finishing 6 years of Naval service as a 2nd Class Petty Officer. He was a Nuclear Reactor Operator aboard the U.S.S. Rhode Island, a nuclear missle submarine stationed at King's Bay, Georgia. After "serving on the most highly advanced piece of technology ever devised by man" Murray is forsaking technology to wander the 2,174 mile AT. His goal is to finish in between 120 and 150 days.

Tom, on the other hand, has a real job. On summer break from teaching, he will hike with Murray for 43 days. The plan is to be somewhere south of Franconia Notch in New Hampshire on July 19, and then it's back to school.

It's Official. Murray reached the summit of Springer Mountain at 11:30 am on November 20, 2004. An 8 mile walk down the mountain to our house completed the trek to the welcoming party. The final few rolls of pix and summit video will be posted soon.
