Terrorism in the United States
If we do not defend our nation, unilaterally if necessary, we will cease to be a great nation.
The means by which we defend ourselves may well bring more terrorist attacks upon on us. The battle may be long lasting or even never ending. It is necessary, however, to respond to every act of terrorism with an equal or greater reaction. The price of ones actions is always a consideration in the planning stages of an attack. Even fundamental religious terrorist who are willing to lose their lives in the name of their cause are not prepared to lose their power structure, their homeland and their children.
Our internal problem becomes one of weighing the loss of freedom viruses the loss of lives. I, for one, would sacrifice lives, .even my own life and that of my children, in the pursuit of freedom and our way of life. Thousands have done so in the past for exactly these reasons. It is my hope that Americans will continue to put our freedom and way of life above that of a passive, submissive, and controlled society.
There are no rules in the war on terrorism and only one goal. That goal is to hit them wherever it hurts. with whatever it takes. These actions may not be popular with some of our allies. They may even repel some Americans. It is not, however, our image at stake. It is our freedom.
The President has said, you are either with us or against us. Because he speaks for the vast majority of the American people, I believe this statement should also extend to all Americans. If you are not with us, you are against us. Way too many people in this country do little but take of the good life. If they don't have the fortitude to defend this country, they need to leave it and let those who think it is worth fighting for prosper in it.
More Americans were killed in New Your City on September 9th than were killed in all of Viet Nam the year I served there. These were Americans from many walks of life, but not solders. They were doing there every day jobs, not attacking Al Queda. The truth is they were sacrificed merely to make a point. That point being that we believe differently, and they don't like that. Like a cancer, those responsible need to be eliminated, like any cancer, and with radiation therapy if necessary.
