Whispering Woods Feists and Curs

Tr. Ch. Gr. CH. Amazing Sable CGC HIC is our Treeing Cur, purchased from Amazing Curs kennel owned by Ray and Alex Kovac of House Springs, MO. I was actually looking for a superior tree dog to breed one of my Feists to when I learned about Amazing Curs, and I had decided to breed either Tawny or Merry to Super Gr. Nt. Ch .Super Gr. Sq. Ch. Gr. Ch. Kovac's Amazing Copper. The perfomance records on these dogs are outstanding and I would consider them to be definitive breed leaders, excelling in all treedog competitions and on the bench.

"The Treeing Cur is a breed of Cur dogs that originates from a cross of two tree dog parents. At one point these dogs were unable to be registered and were considered "grade Dogs". These crosses were by no means lesser dogs. At first only a Cur to Cur cross was accepted, then they allowed Cur to Hound, now it is only necessary that only one parent be of Tree Dog ancestry (Hound, Cur, Feist). The Treeing Cur breed of dog has grown as people are breeding for desired traits, not just name. The United Kennel Club is now registering this breed of dog. It is now very common to see Treeing Curs dominating some of the top competition results. People are realizing that through excellent breeding programs, they can individualize their Curs to fit their needs. Treeing Curs may be used on squirrel, coon and all types of big game." (From the UKC homepage at http://www.ukcdogs/cf-curs.htm)

Four months after purchasing Sable, I was fortunate in being able to send Tawny to Copper to be bred. The litter was born on January 16th, 2001. I sold 4 and kept 2, a male (Surge) and a female (Brandy). Now I have three Copper puppies to be proud of! (Pictures below.)

I have recently purchased another Amazing Cur puppy from the Kovacs. Amazing Gypsy was born on 5/26/01. She is out of Nt. Ch. Sq. Ch. Gr. Ch. Kovac's Amazing Glory (Copper's litter-sister) and sired by Amazing Shamrock. (Shamrock is out of World Ch. 4-way Super Gr. Ch. Kovac's Amazing Ruby and sired by "Copper".) We just picked her up on July 12th, and she is something else!

Amazing Sable CGC HIC is sired by Super Gr. Nt. Ch. Super Gr. Sq. Ch. Gr. Ch. Kovac's Amazing Copper and she is out of Super Gr. Ch. Super Gr. Sq. Ch. Gr. Nt. Ch. Tr. Ch. Kovac's Amazing Grace.
